QR Codes Without a Subscription

Why most QR code services are subscriptions

A dynamic QR code points to a short link on the provider’s server, which then forwards visitors to your content. That is what lets you change the content after printing and count scans. Because the link has to stay online, most providers sell access as a monthly or annual subscription.

For many businesses the subscription model creates problems that only show up later:

With a typical subscription

  • Cancel, and every QR code stops workingMenus, business cards and packaging already in print point to a dead link.QRCodeG: you renew each code separately, or not at all.
  • Paying for codes you don’t useNeed four QR codes? You pay for the plan with five or ten.QRCodeG: buy exactly the number you need.
  • Automatic renewal chargesMiss the cancellation window and another year is charged, often at a new price.QRCodeG: no card on file, no automatic charges.
  • Scan capsA successful campaign can push you into a more expensive tier.QRCodeG: unlimited scans on every code.

How QRCodeG works instead: prepaid, per QR code

QRCodeG sells each dynamic QR code as its own product with a fixed term. You choose the QR type, how many codes you need and for how many years, and pay once.

  • Pay per QR code. Buy one or a thousand; you pay for exactly what you use.
  • Choose the term. One year or several years, with an extra discount for longer terms.
  • No automatic charges. We email you before the end date, and renewal is always your decision.
  • Same code after renewal. Renewing extends the existing QR code, so nothing is reprinted.
  • Every feature on every code. Editing, scan analytics, vector SVG download and folders are included; there are no feature tiers.
  • Unlimited scans. No caps, whatever the traffic.

Dynamic QR codes start at about $11 per year (excluding VAT), and prices depend on the QR type. Volume discounts start at two QR codes and grow as you buy more. You can see the exact price for your quantity and term in your account before paying.

Is a QR code without a subscription right for you?

It is a good fit if you:

  • need a handful of QR codes rather than hundreds of campaigns a month,
  • print QR codes on things that stay in use for years, such as menus, packaging, signs or business cards,
  • want a predictable yearly cost and no card on file,
  • manage QR codes for clients and want each one paid and renewed separately.

A subscription may suit you better if you:

  • create and retire large numbers of short-lived campaign QR codes every month,
  • need a bundle of marketing tools beyond QR codes from a single vendor.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a subscription to create a dynamic QR code?

No. On QRCodeG you pay for each dynamic QR code for a term of one year or more. There is no monthly plan and no automatic renewal.

What happens when the term ends?

You get an email reminder before the end date. If you renew, the same QR code keeps working without interruption, so nothing has to be reprinted. If you don’t, the QR code becomes inactive, and you can reactivate it later.

Will I be charged automatically?

No. Your card is not kept on file for renewals. Every renewal is a purchase you make yourself.

Can I buy just one QR code?

Yes. You can buy a single QR code. If you need more, volume discounts apply automatically from two QR codes upwards.

Are there scan limits?

No. Every dynamic QR code includes unlimited scans for the whole term.

Are static QR codes free?

Yes. Static QR codes are free. Their content can’t be changed after printing and their scans can’t be tracked, so most businesses choose dynamic QR codes for anything printed.
